IP Blacklists for Forum Registration?

When attempting to register for a forum account, I recieved a message that my IP has been blacklisted. The link provided for more details goes to a dead page. I was able to register for a game account successfully.

Since this is the first time I've ever visited this site, I'm not sure why my IP would be blacklisted. If possible, I'd appreciate knowing the reason for the blacklisting, as well as getting it lifted if possible. This server seems to have lots of potential, and I'd hate to have to miss out on it.

Sorry to hear of your registration problem. I do believe it may be a DNS Black List issue. I will ask our Forum Admin, Kilala to give you a hand with this problem.

That might just be it, though I'm not sure why any DNS would blacklist me. However, I am on a dynamic IP; it's possible that I just got unlucky and was assigned an IP that was abused in the past. On that note, wonder if I could get it reassigned.

It is a DNS and your IP range had been blacklisted on a few black list sites. Being that is what it is I would check with your service provider about changing your IP. I would do it not just for our site but for other places on the web as well because a lot of other websites are implementing this.

In the future it could very well hinder your web browsing and registering for other internet related services.

Also ( I just noticed this) that you a dynamic IP. You could just try registering again with a newly assigned IP address. If this does not work it could be that they are blacklisting IPs from your ISP. IF that is the case I would contact them and let them know that their IP ranges are being blacklisted. This is usually caused by someone misusing the service of course by spamming, botting and such.

If I could i would go in and just assign your account but that would require me to remove the protection (spamming) that I put on the forum which would be hazardous just because our forum get hit hard with spam and fake posts.

Well ain't that a kick in the pants. I'll see if I can get my IP address reassigned and try again. If that doesn't work, I'll do as you suggested and talk to my ISP about it.

I appreciate you considering the option of manually assigning me an account, but I can understand your unwillingness to. I'm no spammer, but I've been a forum admin on other boards before, and I know how rage-inducing a bad spammer can be, and I can understand your reluctance to take the risk.

You mentioned blacklisting sites... would you mind linking to the ones you checked? I'm curious as to what their listings show, and if it becomes necessary for me to talk to my ISP, I'm going to need proof that the blacklisting is going on.

This is the page that it seems to be catching on. However also it says that it has been excluded so I am not sure if you went ahead to get it removed or not. It also was found to be on spamcop.net too but is not longer listed there as well.



I do not see it listed on any other sites as of right now. It it just seems that particular IP was is troublesome and was listed for mass mail spamming abuse. It is mainly doing with the IP address "65.27.224.52". On both occaisons that you tried to register on here (Jan. 24 and 23) it was this IP addy that is being blocked.
